At ZIMAM, we are dedicated to operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability. As a registered international non-profit association, our legal and governance frameworks form the foundation for responsible and effective global collaboration.

Purpose and Public Benefit

ZIMAM is a charitable, scientific, and educational organization. Its mission is to:

Advance international professionalism in digital health, with focus on the Middle East and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Promote education, research, capacity building, training, and knowledge transfer in health informatics and related disciplines to improve health outcomes.

Governance Structure

ZIMAM's governance is entrusted to its Board of Directors by the general membership. The Board holds ultimate responsibility for the organization's strategic direction, financial oversight, and legal compliance.

Members are elected by the full membership at the Annual General Meeting for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional terms. The Board collectively sets policy, oversees operations, and ensures alignment with ZIMAM’s mission.
A group of internationally recognised digital health experts who provide independent guidance and subject-matter expertise to the organisation, Board of Directors, and leadership. The Advisory Board offers strategic advice, specialist insight, and support to advance the organisation’s mission and objectives.
Working Groups play a central role in advancing digital health professionalism, education, and innovation. Composed of ZIMAM members, each group focuses on a defined thematic area, facilitating knowledge exchange, developing shared resources, and promoting best practices across the field.
Comprises three Officers and is authorised to act on behalf of the Board of Directors between Board meetings, in accordance with the Bylaws.
Standing Committees include Membership; Nominating and Governance; Audit; Finance; Awards; Procurement and Compensation; Meetings; and the Working Group Steering Committee. Each committee operates within a clearly defined mandate and authority as set out in the Bylaws.

ZIMAM's collaborative work with governments, academic institutions, industry leaders, and civil society is grounded in a shared commitment to responsible governance, ethical standards, and public trust. All partnerships reflect mutual respect for legal responsibilities, data privacy, and patient safety.
